Where to eat
Umbria offers a wide selection of restaurants to choose from, as well as a wide variety of local delicacies. If you need help with this selection or need a reservation, don’t hesitate to contact Monica or the house manager for help. We are happy to make this a pleasant experience.
The following restaurants have all been personally tried and we recommend them warmly.

COLLAZZONE: Al Leone +39 075 8788020 If you are looking for good, simple and no frills meals at reasonable prices, Al Leone is the perfect place. It is the only restaurant in Collazzone and prepares wonderful pizza and fresh local dishes all less than a mile from the Villa. It is the place where you eat on your first night in Collazzone and the place where you eat the night you leave Collazzone !!!!
The reservation is suggested especially in the week ends. It is not a huge restaurant but they also have a nice outdoor.

TODI: Vineria San Fortunato +39 392 3714140 Via dei Condotti. This small wine shop with kitchen offers an excellent selection of the best wine producers in the area and some very selected producers from all over Italy. The food is all homemade and the 6pm aperitif is not to be missed. At the foot of the church of San Fortunato, it is the best time to observe people on a summer night.
TODI: Enoteca Oberdan, +39 075 8945909. Via Augusto Ciuffelli, corner of Giardini Oberdan a few meters from the funicular stop. Great wine selection and a great place for pre-dinner aperitifs and appetizers. or a full dinner. Seasonal outdoor dinner is available. As a further notice: the location is very charming and the owner and cook, Elsa, very nice. However the service is quite unpredictable and (unfortunately) can be lousy on busy nights. Not recommended for more than 2/4 people.
TODI COUNTRYSIDE: Casale Dei Frontini in Frontignano +39 075 8852174, it is as if your Italian grandmother invites you for dinner. Set menu. Homemade, fresh place and family … what else is there to say. Please call or send an e-mail (info@casaledeifrontini.it) in advance. Dinner only. Ask for Michele, he speaks some English and is happy to speak it !!!!
BEVAGNA COUNTRYSIDE: Serpillo +39 366 711 8212 Via di Mezzo 1, 06031, Torre del Colle – Bevagna, Italy This is a very special town. Torre del Colle looks like the town of fairy tales. It still has the great door that was closed at night in ancient times to keep the bad guys out. There is nothing except Serpillo and some residents. There is both indoor and outdoor dining (seasonal). It’s wise to call ahead, especially in the summer to be able to sit outside under the stars. Wonderful buffet of appetizers and classic dinner. (closed on Mondays).
GIANO DELL’UMBRIA: Restaurant Rifugio San Gaspare +39 0742 90189 Location Monti Martani. More than just a restaurant this is a special place. A typical mountain refuge at 1,099 meters above sea level, just 40 minutes by car from Collazzone. In the room you will find a large fireplace where grilled meat is cooked. They also have homemade pasta dishes. Here you can taste the real hot Pizza al Testo just cooked under the ashes that perfectly accompanies the local cured meats. According to the season you can find truffles or mushrooms. Excellent homemade desserts. All accompanied by an excellent white and red house wine.
MONTEFALCO: this is the home of the most famous Sagrantino Wine. Needless to say that it is worth a visit even for just a glass of wine in one of the many cafes and winebars in the very evocative main square in the heart of the town.
MONTEFALCO: L’Alchimista +39 0742 378558 Piazza del Comune, 14. This restaurant finds itself in the very evocative main square of Montefalco. Excellent food and wine. Interesting menu offering traditional high-quality ingredients prepared in an innovative way with accurately presented dishes.
MONTEFALCO COUNTRYSIDE: L’OSTERIA IL SAGRANTINO +39 0742718288. Localita’ San Marco, 5. If you are willing to drive without the hussle of finding a parking spot in Bevagna or Montefalco. This is the fancy version an ancient osteria. Half way to Montefalco you find it just on the road. Excellent wine list. Simple but tasty dishes and selection of cold cuts and local porchetta in the menu. For a casual dinner with more accent on the wines than on the food.
BREAKFAST AND APERITIF
Wherever you see Bar in Italy, it is in fact a Café. The fancier ones are around the Todi square (15 miles away – 25 minutes by car). They will not serve a cooked breakfast but you will have a selection of sweet pastries (croissant) or savory sandwiches (tramezzino) to choose from to have with your coffee, cappuccino, macchiato etc…. In most cases you can also have an aperitif sitting at the tables on the square with some snacks. Try an Italian favorite, Spritz (Spreetz), Aperol Cocktail, Prosecco and soda with a fresh slice of orange.
In Collazzone there are 2 bars where you can have an aperitif or breakfast with some pastry, coffee, cappuccino, tea, juices … one is the Montecristo Bar (10 min walk), in the main square in front of the Church and the Bar of the tennis courts. Take the dirt road in fron of the main gate and go up toward Collazzone. The tennis courts are few minutes walk on your right. It is open at night for a drink or gelato after dinner. None of them are luxury but the quality is fairly good in both bars.
